WARNING: Serious ranting ahead. If you read the whole thing, you’ll understand why.
I hate it when people look down on others because they think they’re all high and mighty. I mean, I’m all for being proud about your accomplishments but don’t be so IN YOUR FACE and snotty about it.
Look lady, I may not be as smart as you or as “high up the ranks” but at least I’ve still got my values intact.
By the way, what is up with the attitude? How cruel a person can you be to step on a kid’s dream like that? If he dreams about going to Harvard or Oxford then you should damn well be egging him on and not taking his dreams and crushing it. Frankly, you don’t have the right to do that. What on earth is the matter with you?!
To paint a clearer picture for you folks, here’s what happened. A kid took a picture copying the University mascot of the school he’d always dreamt of attending (University of the Philippines.)
He posted the photo on his facebook page, proudly declaring how the UP Oblation represents freedom. He also stated how proud he was to be a Filipino. Below he commented on his own photo, saying that this was a tribute to his friends that study in UP. Tons of comments followed from his friends including a couple of very uncalled for remarks made by one “Carlota” (actual name will be kept under lock and key for anonymity)
Long story short, this “friend” of his commented on the photo saying that he should just keep dreaming because this picture is basically as close as he’s ever going to get to actually living his dream. She then proceeds to label herself as a UP graduate (which, unfortunately, she is) and says that she refuses to associate herself with people who aren’t her equal.
The actual gist of the story, she was mean and just downright rude. To come from such a prestigious University and stoop so low without anyone baiting her to begin with baffles me to no end. Tell me why would you choose to be so insolent? WHAT KIND OF PERSON DOES THAT?!
Here’s the thing, you can be a freakin genius and have a face that puts Keira Knightley to shame (not that she has that. Just sayin) but, if you don’t have the character and the proper upbringing to back it up, everything you do and everything you are takes a dive down the toilet and into the stinky sewers. At this point in time, that’s probably the best place for rotten people like you.
I really don’t like posting angry stuff like this because it sends out negative vibes. The thing is though, it really pisses me off when people think so highly of themselves and look down on other people just because they’ve managed to turn their life around. You have to remember, once upon a time, you were just like this kid. You weren’t born into this world a college student now were you? (Unless of course you’re some sort of extraterrestrial being; because that would explain so much…)
Personally, I have overflowing respect for people who aren’t afraid to rub elbows with “the regular folk” and I find it so much more appealing when somebody who is obviously so amazing and so high up keeps their feet planted firmly on the ground.
“The first test of a truly great man is his humility. By humility I don’t mean doubt of his powers or hesitation in speaking his opinion, but merely an understanding of the relationship of what he can say and what he can do.”
